EXPLORING SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA THE NORTH SAILS WAY
Aptly named "The City by the Bay", San Francisco is up there as one of the world's most famous coastal cities. Known for its vibrant metropolitan culture and iconic landmarks, like the Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman's Wharf, and Alcatraz Island, it stands firmly with one foot in urban sophistication and the other in coastal charm. It's this fusion of urban and ocean that shaped our vision for the North Tech Spring Summer '25 collection. If you're lucky enough to be visiting San Fransisco and the Bay Area, here are our top suggestions for experiencing it—the North Sails way.
KITEBOARDING IN ALAMEDA
A short hop across the water from San Francisco in the East Bay area, accessible by car or ferry, is Crown Beach Alameda. This spot, with its warm, shallow waters and gentle onshore or cross-shore winds, is ideal for learning or improving your kiteboarding and foil skills. Boardsports California offers private or group lessons for all abilities from their base, right on the beachfront, and rental kit is available for experienced kiters.

CROSS THE BRIDGE TO SAUSALITO
No trip to San Francisco would be complete without a journey over the Golden Gate Bridge. You'll get the best views of the Bay by crossing on foot or bicycle, but if you're heading to Sausalito, be prepared for a 7- to 8-km hike or ride. Sausalito's rich maritime heritage is still alive throughout the town, and its buzzing waterfront is perfect for whiling away an afternoon. From here, you can join a Sunset Sail aboard a classic schooner, taking in Alcatraz, Angel Island, and the city skyline.

OCEAN BEACH SURFING
Along the western edge of the city, stretching 3.5 miles between Sutro Baths and San Francisco Zoo, you'll find Ocean Beach. With a rich surfing history dating back to the 1940s, it offers everything from one-foot rollers to massive 20-foot swells and a handy rental shop a few blocks back from the beach. If you're a confident surfer, this is your playground—just beware of changing conditions and rip currents on high surf days.
