ORC WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP 2023
Karl Kwok's North-powered TP52 Beau Geste successfully defended their 2022 title to remain the ORC World Champions. From the dominating Class A victories with Kwok’s Beau Geste, Tilmar Hansen’s Outsider, and Carl-Peter Forster’s Red Bandit, North Sails powered a podium sweep. A special shoutout to Class A Corinthian Winner, Kirsten Harmstorf-Schonwitz’s all- women's Tutima. Class B saw its fair share of excitement, with North Sails onboard two out of the top 3 winners, including Marcin Sutkowski’s Team Wind Whisper who clinched Gold.
Gavin Brady, tactician for Beau Geste, reflected on the week-long regatta.
“This was not an easy week at all. Our competition was always tough and we had to have the hammer down all the time. It came down to us maybe having just a slight edge in our teamwork since competed in two other ORC championship regattas this year. We really enjoyed the diversity of conditions and courses in this event, and all that Kiel had to offer.”

RC44 2023 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP COWES
The 44Cup World Championship at the illustrious Royal Yacht Squadron in Cowes truly showcased what high performance Grand Prix racing is all about. Four days of intense sailing with everything from the tricky British tides to ever changing weather, and we witnessed Nico Poons’ North-powered Charisma with our very own sail designer, Flavia Tomiselli onboard, battle through it all to defend their World Championship title. Unlike last year's light breeze, the team conquered 20 knot winds – true Charisma conditions – and clinched victory with a race to spare.
Charisma Tactician Hamish Pepper commented on the team's performance.
“The last five races went really well - all credit to Nico and the team – they make me look good and do everything really well. When I have full faith in Nico steering and the guys trimming and the crew work, it give me the confidence to put the boat into places that sometimes normal people wouldn’t try. We had to do that today at the top mark for our last race - Nico and the guys pulled it off nicely and that probably won us the regatta with a race to spare.”
